Imagine this situation: You have a level 90 mage with the possibility of making portals to your faction’s headquarters in Pandaria. So you make portals to all your friends… But none of those have level 90 mages and can return the favor.
What would you say if I told you that you can make portals to your alts?
Well, you can. You just need one friend to be online for this to work. And this friend doesn’t even have to be on the same server – just of the same faction – so he can group with you.
These are the secret steps you have to take to make portals to your alts:
Step 1: Get a friend to invite your alt to a group. If the friend needs the portal, too, then meet somewhere. Don’t choose Orgrimmar or Stormwind, if you’re doing this cross server, because you’ll not be able to see each other there.
Step 2: Go to the meeting place – or find a spot for yourself, if your friend is not going through the portal. Make sure you can identify this spot very precisely.
Step 3: Stay grouped and log off.
Step 4: Log on with your mage.
Step 5: Ask your friend to invite you to the group.
Step 6: Go to the meeting place. If your friend is there, it’s easier to find. If not, you’re going to use the identifier, you chose in step 2.
Step 7: Make the portal to Pandaria (or where ever you want), and log off and switch to alt.
Step 8: Go through the portal with your alt.
Remember to make the Pandarian headquarter your new home, so you have easy access to portals to all the main cities – also with your lower level alts.
As for a meeting place, I recommend a quiet place, like Silvermoon/Exodar, where there are few people, because it will make it faster to log off with your mage and back in with your alt.
You only have one minute to go through your portal, once it has been made.
