What About Working on a Twink F2P?

You might know it, but you can actually have a free WoW account. A so called “F2P” (Free to Play) account.

Now, a Free to play account has some conditions: You can get to level 20 maximum. You can’t receive or send mail. You can only own a maximum of 10 gold. You can only get quests to level 23 and a couple of other things.

However, you can actually have fun with a free to play account and even make a really bad-ass twink which will get a bunch of achievements.

Want to try?

Then begin to go to your own battle.net account and create another account, a trial account, or just make another battle.net account with trial edition on it.

And here are a couple of tips and tricks to get you on the way. A kind of FAQ.

– You can actually make a Blood-elf or a Draenei on a trial account. You don’t need the extension Burning Crusade anymore. When you make a trial account, you have access to the classical world and Outland.

– Even though you have your trial account on the same account than your regular account, you won’t be able to send heirlooms or bound to account gear to your new twink. You can’t receive mail at all.

Nevertheless, you can still get heirlooms! Plenty of it!

As a F2P, you can actually get in all the battlegrounds, that you wish. You can buy heirlooms for honor in Orgrimmar or in Stormwind: The shoulders and weapons for honor points and the chest for justice points. You can exchange your honor points against justice points at the vendor too.

Now: You can neither sell nor buy from the auction house. You cannot trade with other players. You do not have access to the public channel either by the way. You can’t talk in /general, /trade or /localdefense. You can only use whisper, a group channel, /say or the battleground chat. For what is about whisper, you can just whisper people that have you in their friend list or people who have whispered you first.

So except battlegrounds to get heirlooms, you will have to go after rare mobs to equip your twink with or to go in dungeons. Between dungeons, rare mobs and heirlooms, your twink can be a real tough character. Believe me.

Last, but not least, you have some limitation about your professions: you cannot have a profession higher than level 100. Only the secondary professions: fishing, cooking and first aid have the same limit than regular accounts.

Note that you can’t take archeology before paying for cataclysm, though, even though you are level 20.
Here you are. So… How tough can you become?
