Mounts are – like cars – means to get you faster from one place to another. But exactly like cars, mounts are not just mounts. There are ugly mounts, handy mounts, cool mounts, great looking mounts, rare mounts, mounts for two, and probably several other category mounts than these. One of the mounts that has impressed me the most is the Venomhide Raptor Mount.
Not only is it looking great, I think, but oh, when you ride it… Some mounts just hammer their hooves to the ground. This one, it is springy (if you can say so in English).
And the way you obtain it is so cute. It’s through a horde only quest chain, and it will take you at last 20 days to get it, with no more than 5 minutes of work per day.
You start out with the egg, then the hatchling, and finally you have a full grown mount. Watch pictures and steps here:
You start the quest in Un’Goro Crater, at the entrance, if you come from Tanaris. There you’ll find a troll with a venomhide raptor. His name is Mor’vek, and from level 48, you can get his quest “Toxic Tolerance“. In this quest, you’ll have to learn to tolerate the toxic that flows from the venomhide raptors.
If you’re too highlevel, you have to put some of your gear in your bag and hit the venomhide raptors with lesser strenght. If you’re smart, you can use the same raptor several times. Just hit it till it’s low on health, run away, and grab it again, when it has recovered. If you kill it too fast, it will not have time to spray it’s venom on you.
After you’ve finished this quest, you’ll be asked to find venomhide eggs, and as a reward, you get a hatchling of your own.
Each day, you have to feed this hatchling, and it will grow, and give you one baby tooth each day. When you have collected 20, you’re ready to turn the quest in and get your mount, but it will also cost you 20 runecloth, 20 rugged leather, and 80 gold.
Anyway, it’s worth it!
